PermanentFarming Receives Grant from North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission
BISMARCK, North Dakota – PermanentFarming, Inc. Receives $172,000 Grant from North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission to Advance Large-Scale Beef Finishing Facility with Renewable Natural Gas Manure Conversion
PermanentFarming, a startup in the renewable natural gas and soil fertility space, is pleased to announce it has been awarded $172,000 by the North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) to support development of a large-scale beef finishing facility that will include manure conversion into renewable natural gas (RNG) and soil fertility products.
The grant was approved at APUC’s quarterly meeting on November 16 in Devils Lake, as part of funds awarded to 11 projects designed to support research, commercialization, farm diversification, technology development, marketing and utilization of North Dakota agricultural products.
PermanentFarming’s projects will build and operate integrated manure capture systems and conversion to renewable natural gas and soil fertility, thereby delivering multiple sustainability and value-chain benefits including:
On-site capture of cattle manure and conversion into renewable natural gas, reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and creating a low-carbon energy product.
Creation of an advanced producer facility aligned with modern environmental standards and scalable operations.
Support for regional agricultural communities and supply chains, reinforcing value creation locally and driving circular-economy synergies between livestock and energy systems.
Enabling new revenue streams from RNG and soil fertility, potentially accelerating financial returns and enhancing project resilience for PermanentFarming and producers.
“Receiving this APUC award is a pivotal milestone for us,” said Steve Polski, CEO of PermanentFarming. “It validates our vision of coupling beef finishing operations with high-value energy conversion from manure. We believe this project will establish an operating model that can be replicated—and scaled—in all regions.”
“At a time when producers and communities face increasing pressure to lower carbon footprints and improve operational efficiency, this facility offers a tangible pathway to link livestock agriculture with renewable energy production,” added COO, Russ Conser.
With the grant funding secured, PermanentFarming will proceed with detailed engineering, site selection, permitting and equipment procurement. The project will also engage with local stakeholders, agribusiness partners, and energy market participants to ensure an integrated and value-maximizing rollout.
